Wednesday April 24, 2002 Get blogging
This page will be boring no longer. I have scavenged the Asciimation
diary from the Chickenman site and will use this to 'power' this blog.
I have also added this lovely sea-blue colour scheme.
Quintorigo
I've just been listening to Grigio by the Italian group
Quintorigo. Quintorigo are an interesting rock group, who
use classical and jazz instruments like violin, cello, saxophone etc. - a bit
like the Finnish group Apocalyptica (who have done Metallica covers on
cellos), but they have a wider range. They've covered rock classics
(David Bowies' Heroes, Jimi Hendrix, and Highway Star) but
also do very characteristic pieces which are somewhere between bombastic
ratpack, jazz, pop, metal, and classical. Very interesting: I thought that
their first album, Rospo was the best album of 1999, but they are unknown
for example here in Britain. Shame really, I think it would be hard to
find their music here, so I took advantage of a recent trip to Italy to
buy Grigio. Some classic Quintorigo tunes, though some tracks are
taking me a while to get used to.
